Discussions in Thomayer Hospital
With the arrival of Spring, we managed to start cooperation between a non-profit organization Lékořice Z.S. and the Czech Spitfire Club. The first shared events took place on 21st and 23rd March at the Thomayer Hospital. The Czech Spitfire Club was represented by its chairman, Mr. Zdeněk Sadecký, who prepared discussion about the history of aviation from simple gliders, hot air balloons over the warplanes to the most recent transport airplanes. The program was not only about telling the story but also about the creativity of children that in the course of discussions produced simple models of Spitfire.
According to the amount of questions and comments, it was obvious that the present children were interested in the topic. They had a fun and at the same time learned a little about Czechoslovak pilots from the World War II. Ing. Sadecký managed during his lecture to mention the machines flown by our airmen, flight training and problems with which the pilots often struggled during their service to homeland.
Children are usually hospitalized at Children’s Hospital Psychiatry Ward for the period from 3 to 6 weeks. During their stay in the hospital they have morning school education and in the afternoon there are either games organized by the therapists or their parents’ visit. Discussions therefore presented a pleasant change compare to otherwise normal program.
